If you are on a first-name basis with the person to whom you are addressing the letter, it is generally acceptable to address the person by his first name in your letter as well. Additionally, you can take cues from previous correspondence from the business contact to figure out whether or not you can use a first name. For example, it is acceptable to address a person by first name in business letters if he has sent correspondence to you and signed it using his first name. This is an indication that you can use a more informal approach.
I beg to respectfully differ on which is which:I just wonder if 'Asaka' is not a typo (on their part), provided 'Nishio' is the family name of the concierge in question. Dead island riptide co op. I may be wrong, but isn’t that ASAKO, instead, I wonder? If so then your concierge should definitely be a female, and so you may like to call her like -san/Asako-san: ‘san’ is an horrific to be affixed to any family name, and sometimes to any first name (depending on how close you are; if intimate then ‘chan’ takes its place, which is comparable to ‘-ie’ as in Charlie). To my mind and imagination and ears, frankly, 'Asaka' sounds a bit too strange for the first name of a female, more so for a male’s.Conversely, if 'Asaka' is not a typo and thus is right for a family name, which I think is often the case with lots of people in this country, then ‘Nishio’ has to be the given name of a male/female. (For either gender, I’ve never come across any person with that given name.)Anyway, Nishi/Higashi/Kita/Minami, or west/east/north/south in English, is most commonly found in parts of family names, not in any part of given names.

So family names like Nishio, Higashio, and Kitao are all familiar to the Japanese. I’m no etymologist, yet the last ‘-o’ part pertaining to each above is originally, if taken literally, ‘tail’ as against head of something. I may be wrong, but I imagine someone living in the north end of a castle/village/mountain/river centuries ago, for example, might well have favored being called Kitao. So my bold conclusion is, ASAKO (first name) NISHIO (last name). Yes, I agree with post #1 in that: if in first email, I’d address her Nishio-san, rather than Asako-san.
